about Kate
Kate Williams is an ice cream entrepreneur, waffle cone mix distributor, and recipe creator living in Portland, OR.
Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Kate moved to Cambridge, MA where she launched her first ice cream business, Scoop Sights in 2014. She made dairy-free ice cream popsicles and sold them from a tricycle at local farmers markets in the Boston area.
In 2017, Kate and her family moved to Portland, OR. She realized there was still an opportunity to bring this ice cream to her new city. Wanting to continue her journey, she founded Kate’s Ice Cream in 2019 with the mission to provide everyone a classic ice cream shop experience through plant-based gluten-free ice cream, regardless of dietary restrictions.
Kate’s Ice Cream has built a national reputation for seriously creamy plant-based ice cream made entirely dairy-free and gluten-free using organic coconut milk and seasonal Northwest ingredients. With scoop shops on Mississippi Avenue and NW 23rd, Kate’s has become a staple of Portland’s vegan dessert scene while attracting plenty of non-vegan fans along the way.
